Next-Gen Landfill Lining for Soil & Groundwater
Protecting our soil and natural resources is one of the most important responsibilities of our generation. In the past, contaminated soil and waste were often deposited directly into nature — without the necessary safety measures. Today, we secure our waste and contaminated soil in landfills, that meet the highest technical standards to protect the surrounding soil and groundwater from pollution.
The German company G Quadrat specializes in creating lining systems for landfills to ensure safe storage of waste and a safe surrounding environment. Traditionally, these types of projects require an impermeable layer of up to 50 cm of highly qualified clay to prevent seepage into the surrounding environment. However, the Dutch company Tritech Solutions has developed a special type of mixture, consisting of mostly sand, bentonite and a small amount of polymer, called Trisoplast®. G Quadrat is the exclusive partner for the German market.
The unique blend of sand, bentonite and polymer creates an extremely impermeable barrier that reduces the thickness of the barrier layer to just 8 cm without compromising on safety. The result? A significantly larger storage capacity, regardless of the contamination category of the soil being handled and a significant reduction of emissions caused by transporting qualified clay through Germany.
Flexible and Efficient Production – Directly at the Customer Site
Previously, the material mix was produced locally in a nearby concrete mixing plants. The process of having a working collaboration can be time consuming, being dependent on other companies’ staff, timetable and the surrounding logistics. This process can now be eliminated by working with G Quadrat’s very own staff directly on site.
With a mobile mixing plant from fibo intercon, G Quadrat has found the ideal solution: They now arrive at the customer site, mix the material on location, and deliver a tailored solution on-site, quickly, efficiently, transparent and visible for the customer.
A Mixing Plant for a Special Task
Due to the material’s unique composition, both the mixing process and equipment had to meet specific requirements. In close collaboration with G Quadrat and Tritech, fibo intercon carried out a series of tests to optimize our mobile plant for this exact application.
The mixing arms and paddles were adjusted, and numerous tests confirmed that fibo intercon’s mobile C2200 plant is highly suitable for the task. Uniform and precise mixing is essential to ensure the final barrier layer is tight, stable, and resistant to seepage or penetration from the stored materials.
After a successful development phase at our R&D test center, the choice naturally fell on the C2200 plant. Its mobility allows G Quadrat to serve customers throughout Germany. The plant can be easily transported by truck from site to site, and the precise material control ensures consistent quality – every time.
A fibo intercon plant means
Precise and consistent material mixing
High mobility and flexibility
User-friendly design and reliable operation
Technical support and dedicated partnership
A Strong Partnership and a Shared Mission
This close collaboration has led to a strong relationship between fibo intercon and our German partners at G Quadrat. That’s why we were delighted to accept an invitation from Martin Sünnwoldt, Sales Director at G Quadrat, who offered the entire fibo team a guided tour of a landfill site in Germany.
The occasion was fibo intercon’s 90th anniversary, and the visit gave us the opportunity to witness our technology in action — right where it makes a difference. At the landfill, Trisoplast® was mixed directly on-site using a C2200 plant — exactly as intended.
We’re proud to provide the technology that empowers our customers to handle complex materials responsibly. Together, we’re contributing to a cleaner, more balanced future.
